Pokedex:
The massive 35 foot wingspan allows this pokemon to effortlessly soar over vast distances, it’s favorite thermals are over the volcanoes this species calls home. This species has been observed starting wildfires and was originally thought to be a territorial display, however it is now understood by researchers to be a vital role in the ecosystem.


Evolution: Salaburn   - (Lv. 16) Velocipyre   - (Lv. 39) Drakano


Gender Differences:

Male: A male Drakano has a pair of longer curved horns protruding from it's frill. The skin pigmentation of the males wings are of an orange coloration (for mating purposes).

Female: A female Drakano has a pair of shorter straight horns protruding from it's frill. The skin pigmentation of the females wings are of a light umber coloration.

- In the presence of an extended source of heat, this pokemon will take to the sky and soar high above the battle.
In-Depth Effect:
- When certain attacks or abilities are used in battle the user of this ability flies above the battlefield and remains protected from physical attacks until the turn after the "heat" source stops. On this following turn the user will return to it's position on the field.

Attacks which activate this ability:
- Fire Spin
- Magma Storm
- Sunny Day
- *Wildfire

Abilities which activate this ability:
- Drought

Secondary Effect:
- while the users Thermal Rider ability is activated it may not use physical attacks, unless it uses attacks which dictate that it must "move" into the sky first.

Such attacks are:
- Bounce
- Fly
- Sky Attack

Or if an opponent uses these attacks listed above to enter the sky or uses the ability Thermal Rider themselves, then physical attacks may be used.

Wildfire – Fire / Special / 100 / 80%/ 5 PP

Attack Effect:
- The user breaths fire onto the vegetation around it, the fire quickly grows into a raging inferno damaging pokemon on the field. The other pokemon on the field become trapped within a fierce firestorm of fire that can rage from two to five turns. May induce a burns.

Secondary Effect:
- This attack can only be used in areas of abundant vegetation, such as grassy fields, tall grassy fields, forests, jungles, and swamps (on land only). This attack will only do base damage if used in areas of scarce vegetation, such as roads, towns/cities, inside buildings, water (ponds, lakes, oceans, ect.), caves, mountainous/rough terrain, sandy, ice, volcanic ground, and swamps (on water only). Pokemon on the field may not retreat or be switched out during this attack. May induce a burn on each pokemon on the field, during each turn. (10%)

Attack Concept:
- The concept of this attack is an enhanced version of the Fire Spin attack.


Dragon Fire – Dragon / Special / 120 / 75% / 10 PP

Attack Effect:
-The target is attacked with an intense blast of all-consuming dragon fire. It may also leave the target with a burn.

Secondary Effect:
-May induce burn. (20%)

Attack Concept:
-A Blizzard, Fire Blast, Thunder -ish special attack, as there currently is no 120 special damage Dragon type attack. So I made one! ^_^



My Notes:
This fire starter was inspired by Charmander's family tree, I'd like to think this a genetic variation that was trapped in the Soti region and evolved over the course of millions of years. The overall idea of the family was based on reptilian evolution, the first significant "reptilian" creatures on Earth were the amphibians (i.e.- Salaburn), then the most successful "reptilian" family was the dinosaurs (i.e.- Velocipyre), and finally if dinosaurs were to stay more reptilian and less birdlike I'm sure something like dragons might have existed at some point (hypothetically speaking of course).
